Martin Luther King Jr, JFK Henry David Thoreau and Jesus of Nazareth all had this in common

They Isolate themselves from society for a period; reflected on the inner workings of the universe and reported back to the people.

Therein lies the key factor.

I spent my own time isolated from society.

Internal reflection without the external social, geopolitical or cultural influences of the present time. This, allows an individual to transcend era’s and express a level of Empathy you CANNOT attain distracted by the burdens of life, whether they be pleasurable or painful.

For about 18 months from December of 2012 to my most recent birthday I have been in and out of social circles. The majority of which was spent at my home in the Emerald Coast beach community, Navarre Florida. I spent most of my days tending to my then infant daughter and taking care of myself and dogs. I read every minute I was not engaged with my daughter. I often did not sleep at night, fearing there was some critical piece of the puzzle that I would miss if I shut my laptop down, or closed the book. Everything, became a page turner. The most boring topics became fascinating. I started to make philosophical hypothesis and would then peruse the Google+ communities to carry out my experiments.

My official findings are:

Chaos Theory, makes up the foundation for the reality of Positivism; that social influence and external sensory experiences manipulate the Subconscious habits of the human being. The lack of Empathy and education amongst young men and women in society perpetuates the cycle of aggression and violence, and ultimately prevents any formidable permanent intellectual enlightenment on an individual basis or as a whole.

In direct conjunction with that irrefutable fact is the point that each individual social interaction and external sensory experience has a ripple effect throughout the social network of peers and authoritative figures. (Positivism)

Example, If I have a bad day and I go home and beat my wife and child; the next day my child is more likely to act out in a negative way towards his or her peers. Simultaneously, if my spouse was ill willed or confused by the victimization process and does not remove both vulnerable parties from the situation she risks multiple emotional and psychological ramifications that will take years of coping and therapy to overcome. While every day, their attitudes, personalities and behavior impacted their coworkers, peers and family. This in turn, perpetuating the cycle until it is broken with positive change somewhere down the telephone chain.

To put it simple, “If a butterfly flaps its wings in China, does it cause a tornado in New York?” The fundamental principle of Chaos Theory, is that you do not know all of the variables. To the untrained thinker, the previous question seems preposterous. But, If I were to tell you that an illegal logging operation had just begun operations deep into the forest. While one logger was filling up a piece of equipment with fuel, a butterfly flapped it’s wings on a nearby petal. The flapping of the wings broke the camouflage of the butterfly, attracting the tension of predatory bird. The butterfly takes off in a path that will place him directly in between the man fueling his equipment as his supervisor stands above and watches with a not uncommon lit cigarette in his hand. The bird startles the supervisor, as the butterfly was to land on his shoulder until it was snatched by the wild predator. The Supervisor has just dropped his cigarette and fallen onto his subordinate; spilling fuel and igniting flowing incendiary. A forest fire grows so strong, so fast with such intense heat the jet stream is affected and the temperature rises across the globe a minute degree. This, however is enough to upset the balance of the atmosphere. Now, an out of season super cell is moving across the Northeastern United states in the month of October.

Socially, Adam Lanza (sandy hook shooter) was a victim of this phenomenon in my opinion. Suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome; Adam is Autistic. His level of Empathy has put him at risk because his rational thought cannot comprehend the pain he sees in the world around him every day. He is confused why he is constantly bullied on the Starcraft and other online platforms. Always being told he is different and broken he does not understand how. No one can explain to him why he sees the world the way he does and it becomes his reality. Finally, the straw that broke the camel’s back; his mother announces she is to have him committed as soon as she returns from vacation. She cannot deal with it anymore. It is my opinion, she had found a companion and her son was interfering with her taking the next step in her life. This lack of compassion from the one person on Earth that was supposed to biologically give a damn, didn’t. So, he put on his gear and went to that school with tears in his eyes on a mission to save those children in the youngest classes, before society was able to corrupt their innocence. These are not the thoughts of a logical or rational man. Those are thoughts of an Empathetic man. A man that lived on a combination of heart and mind that prevented him from communicating with the population that is completely dead to the world.

We all should take responsibility for actions like this. In the end, everyone that has ever bullied is responsible. Everyone that stood by and watched someone get bullied is responsible and why you can see change in the world now. Just as an individual has a traumatic experience and responds; so do we as community. Sometimes rash, sometimes logically. More and more you are starting to see people respond in greater numbers to these events. Our social networking has gone virtual.

The inclusion of Televison into our lives gave each household with one a window to the world. Before, traveling and seeing the world would give an individually a worldly perspective. Because of economic woes, security concerns and social establishment few people had ever been able to experience the world as we have begun to. Since the inception of the television broadcast, look how the usage of the word Empathy has increased in literary work to date.
But, I digress I am glad I had not read HDT before that point. My time was spent devouring the fields of Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Anarchy, Democracy, Communism, Marxism, The Bible, The Quran, Internal reflection and eventually; before I learned anything about Hinduism I reached Salva Kalpa Samadhi. My research into Positivism, Rationalism, Transcendentalism and Existentialism brought me to a full blown Cognitive Shift in individual awareness. There, in the confines of my sanctuary I rushed to the latrine to purge the overwhelming emotion that had just overcome me. I popped, to say the least. Vomited with nothing in my stomach but joy and love. Then; I discovered The Overview Effect. Which, was the result of my life experiences coming to a culmination at the realization there is nothing WE, as a people cannot accomplish. I then found my way to the young Thoreau masterpiece. Only to discover the intellectual musings of my previously uncorrupted free thinking mind had stumbled onto greatness. I found that previous years’ worth of letters to my family and friends and emails imploring others for help, to just listen to what I had seen; was not lost. With each page, I found my reflection. Just I had as a young man in the words of the Nazarene. I see now. Jesus, MLK Jr, Lennon, Marley, Joan of Arc, JFK...there messages were not unique or original. Those messages belong to all of us. The thoughts of equality and liberty were inside all of us in the beginning. Until we cowered down to the world around us in fear that it was too big. Oppressive forces depend on that. They know what I have come to realize: the power lies within the people. Not the will of the people through ballot. But the expression of interpersonal communication.

The previous social faux paux of discussing Politics, Religion and Money were tools of social influence on a struggling population. No matter what, do not talk about your individual opinions; lest you all realize your beliefs are the same and the division that has been established between you will diminish. Then, and only then will the Truth be apparent. The Truth shall set us all free. We, will free each other from oppression that has stifled our progress.
As the great JFK once wrote, "A revolution is coming: a revolution which will be peaceful if we are wise enough, compassionate if we care enough, successful if we are fortunate enough - but a revolution which is coming whether we will it or not. We can affect its character, we cannot alter its inevitability."

Our children will speak of suffering in the past tense. They will pity the many that did not get to see our transcendence. They will ensure the names of those that sacrificed for it will never be forgotten and we never return down the path to self-destruction. The perception that we do not maintain the intellectual capacity for self-determination is deeply flawed. If you are religious, the red text in the King James version of the bible will give you some insight. If you are an Atheist, please read Walden and On the Duty of Civil Disobedience. His philosophical words are not placed in a theological context but still parallel the teachings of Jesus, MLK Jr, Buddha or any other modern religion. If you can’t realize we’re all ideologically the same, this is going to be a longer, more painful road than it has to be.
